But are you connected? Currently there’s a mass teacher exodus happening. Around the nation an estimated 300,000 educators have decided to changed careers in the last 2-3 years. Those that remain are there from the heart, or for the comfort that their career affords. Most know for sure they aren’t there for the money. So why stay in this over worked, rapidly changing career path when in most cases the cost of living doesn’t measure out. Many would answer it’s for the children.
In order to do this life changing job educators have to have a way of cutting off their own lives and merging into what the students need. It’s not easy, but our training calls us to dive into the content and curriculums. But, what if we had a way of sharing our authentic selves with our students and using that as a foundation to connect to who they truly are. The connection between students and educators helps to bridge different learning levels and creates a learning environment of trust. Stay tuned for other components to the CORE to Literacy for tips on merging popular culture and content for connectivity plugs.
